Coach Bill O’Brien addressed many of the Houston Texans’ needs in his first draft as the team’s general manager, despite not having a first-round pick. O’Brien went heavy on defense early on, using his first pick on TCU defensive tackle Ross Blacklock in the second round at No. 40. The Texans needed depth on the defensive line after nose tackle D.J. Reader left for the Bengals in free agency.
