Deshaun Watson got the better of Shedeur Sanders in the first chapter of the Cleveland Browns' preseason quarterback battle.
Sanders will have a chance to issue a rebuttal as he prepares to start against the Buffalo Bills in preseason Week 2.
Browns coach Todd Monken is sticking to his plan of giving both Watson and Sanders a chance to log a preseason start. Watson got the first crack at locking down the role against the Chicago Bears, so Sanders will be up next.
Right now, Watson appears to have the edge. After all, he was named the starter of the first preseason contest and outplayed Sanders during that game, a 34-10 loss.
But things can change rapidly in the NFL, so Sanders could find himself back in the conversation if he is able to log a quality outing against Buffalo.
