Southampton vs Manchester City: Saints defender Kayne Ramsay becomes youngest Premier League starter this season

What’s the old saying? If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

And Southampton’s Kayne Ramsay is clearly viewed as good enough by manager Ralph Hasenhuttl after being handed his Premier League debut – a start against reigning champions Manchester City.

Considering he only earned his professional contract in September, defender Ramsay has enjoyed a brilliant rise into the big time.

And in starting the game at home to City, Ramsay set a creditable record of being the youngest Premier League starter this season at the ripe old age of 18 years and 81 days.

Ramsay, who was at Chelsea before moving to the south coast, only just beat the likes of Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon and Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp as you can see above.

Manchester United vs Huddersfield Town team news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes changes to squad for first Old Trafford game as manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named the team to play in what is his first Manchester United game at Old Trafford as manager.

However, he has to do without Anthony Martial, who is unwell.

“He must have had a bad chef over Christmas,” Solskjaer told MUTV.

“If it’s food poisoning or something. I don’t know, but he has fallen ill over Christmas.”

Elsewhere, Juan Mata, Fred and Diogo Dalot start, while Huddersfield have also made changes, with Erik Durm, Elias Kachunga and Laurent Depoitre coming in for Chris Lowe, Juninho Bacuna and Steve Mounie.

United haven’t lost a home league game on Boxing Day since the 1978/79 season (0-3 versus Liverpool), winning 14 and drawing three since.

Ahead of the game, Solskjaer said: “We are at home we want the crowd and the players to be excited, we want to attack this game from the start, it’s gong to be a different challenge to the Cardiff game of course because we are at home expected to attack and go and create chances all of the time.”
